William Conner was the first settler in Hamilton County and in 1822 he helped to established it as an independent county. The county was named after the first secretary of the treasury, Alexander Hamilton. Hamilton County is one of 92 counties in Indiana. It  is the most affluent community in Indiana, and it is also one of the fastest-growing counties in the nation. The county seat is Noblesville. Noblesville was established in 1887, and most likely named in honor of state senator, James Noble. Noblesville is home to the Hamilton County courthouse, built in 1879, and the historic covered bridge, Potter's Bridge.
